So about yesterday….
I had been planning on my typical lazy Sunday when Matt got the opportunity to take someone’s place in the Ras na hEireann, a 5k in honor of St. Patty’s day that takes place in Davis square. Though I’m not a runner myself, I love going to races because of the prime people-watching opportunities. And I obviously like to support Matt!
I knocked out a little workout of my own at the gym before heading up to Davis and finding a good spot at the finish line. I didn’t even have to kill any time because the first runner crossed in just under 15 minutes. I’ll never know how these people do it…
About six minutes later, I spotted Matt, who didn’t even appear to be out of breath. Lauren
also finished just a minute after Matt!
Ok, ok, so the real reason I wanted to support my friends in their race was because of the after-party:) I scored a free Harpoon IPA at the Foundry on Elm, and since the Duke game was on, Matt and I decided we’d have to stay and drink more beer so we wouldn’t miss any of the action.
The Foundry actually had an awesome beer list. I had a very light saison, but I was too busy watching the game to catch the brewery’s name. It was tasty, but obviously not too memorable if I don’t remember who made it!
I also tried a Clown Shoes Brown Angel, which was smooth and a little bitter – it was almost too light for me! The real star though was a Dogfish Head Red and White that Matt ordered. It was brewed with pinot noir and had the consistency of apple juice, but had many of the characteristics of a citrus-y Belgian beer. It was really alcoholic too, but I couldn’t tell at all because it didn’t have that high ABV sticky-ness.
Oh, and there was food involved! This was a Mediterranean scramble with chorizo and tomatoes and it actually wasn’t very good:(
Needless to say, I was pretty tired after this mid-day fiesta, but I went home happy (because of the beer and the big win)!!!
As for today, the time change hit me hard this morning and I found myself craving caffeine big time. Because of my grogginess and because I didn’t have a whole lot of work to keep me busy, the day really dragged on. I can’t imagine anything better than a nap right now, but I’m heading to a spinning class in a few and then I’m making stuff peppers for dinner, so it looks like sleep will have to wait until tonight.
Did anyone else have trouble adjusting to spring forward?
